Sinohydro, the company in charge of works on the Mankim-Ndjole section, started with a test section on Thursday 29 August 2024 at kilometre point 87+325. The operation was carried out in accordance with the technical specifications, under the supervision of the control mission, and the related results will be known within seven days. The pavement structure consists of a 30 cm-thick lateritic gravel sub-base, a 20 cm-thick base course with 0/31.5 crushed graded aggregate and a 5 cm-thick wearing course in bituminous concrete. 15 structures are complete on the site, while 9 are under construction including three 20 m-span bridges that were transformed into 5 x 4 x 2.5 m box culverts following a hydrological study on water flows and the bearing capacity of the soils in the area. The company also proceeds with constructing piles and prefabricating beams for engineering structures.
The deployment observed on the ground and the works being carried out in the various workshops suggest that the delivery time frames will be met.
