The Ministry of Public Works has taken decisive steps to enhance safety and streamline ongoing reconstruction efforts on the Dschang cliff corridor. During a strategic assessment meeting held on May 22, 2025, Public Works Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi emphasized the importance of responsible behavior from road users and strict adherence to newly outlined safety directives.
Bringing together central administration officials in person and project teams remotely, the session focused on reinforcing protective measures around this critical infrastructure site. The terrain, marked by complex geological conditions, demands heightened caution from all stakeholders involved.
One of the major resolutions from the meeting was the closure of the current detour route. This measure is intended to prevent unauthorized access and allow contractors to operate in a safer, more controlled environment. The move aims to reduce potential hazards for both workers and travelers, while also boosting the efficiency of construction operations.
The project, managed by China First Highway Engineering Corporation under the technical oversight of ECTA BTP, continues to progress despite the challenges posed by the region’s unstable soil. With heavy traffic flow and unpredictable vehicle movements posing additional risks, the ministry has called for full compliance with road signage and restricted access protocols.
These reinforced safety regulations reflect MINTP’s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring the successful delivery of the reconstruction works. By fostering a culture of civic responsibility and vigilance, the Ministry hopes to create the conditions necessary for the project’s timely and secure completion.
