In his speech at the launching ceremony of works on the Olounou – Oveng road on Friday 22 November 2024, the Minister of Public Works mentioned the Ebolowa – Akom II – Kribi road construction project.
He said: “As regards the Ebolowa – Akom II – Kribi road, which was the focus of the dialogue initiated by the Head of State with the Italian party in March 2017, in Italy, we have made significant progress in meeting the requirements of the Financial Partners, which are the London-based Standard Chartered Bank and its guarantor UKEF (United Kingdom Export Finance). The action plan agreed upon by the parties in April 2024 to comply with the substantial environmental conditions imposed by the IFC and the _Coopération Française Internationale_, is being implemented towards meeting the demands of the ICM company and the Donor. The outcome of the final report by RAMBOLL (UKEF’s consultant) on the studies carried out by WSP Golder (the consultant of the company in charge) will be the allocation of the second tranche of funding.”
The final design which is being drafted is for the project to be financed by the London-based Standard Chartered to the tune of 6.51 billion CFAF. The Minister of Public Works further stated that the preparatory measures are making good progress.
